Third Eye
The Third Eye (Sanskrit: Ājñā, “command”) is the sixth chakra located at the brow center, associated with intuition, inner vision, and direct spiritual perception beyond ordinary sense data. Across traditions, the Third Eye represents the faculty of gnosis — the eye that sees through the Veil of Maya.

Physiological Correlate
The pineal gland — a small, pine-cone-shaped endocrine structure in the center of the brain — has been identified since Descartes as the “seat of the soul.” DMT (dimethyltryptamine), an endogenous psychedelic compound, has been detected in the pineal glands of rodents, fueling speculation about its role in mystical states, near-death experiences, and hypnagogic visions.
