Thaumiel

Thaumiel (“The Contending Forces” or “The Twins of God”) is the supreme sphere of the Qlippoth, corresponding to and inverting the first holy Sefirah, Kether.

Where Kether represents the absolute, indivisible unity of the Godhead—the singular point from which all reality flows—Thaumiel represents the primal splitting of that unity. It is the fundamental essence of duality, conflict, and the divided mind. It creates two opposing heads or focal points where there should only be one, generating endless internal war at the very root of consciousness.

Archetypal and Psychological Expression

  • Schizophrenia of the Soul: In a psychological context, Thaumiel reflects the ultimate fragmentation of the psyche, where two diametrically opposed core identities or supreme values battle for control, paralyzing the individual and severing them from the Jungian_Self.
  • The Two-Headed Adversary: In mythological terms, it is represented by multi-headed serpentine forces or the dual kings of darkness (Satan and Moloch in some traditions) who war even with each other to claim the throne of God.
  • The Root of Enantiodromia: Thaumiel is the very source of the tension that causes extremes to collapse into their opposites.
